100% Gewürztraminer from 25 year old vines, limestone and clay soil, well drained subsoil. The Baur family has one hectare of Gewürztraminer in Pfersigberg, on very steep slopes with a south exposure that encourages optimum ripeness. The grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted, and the ones attacked by noble rot are removed. The grapes are pressed in a pneumatic press and ferment slowly with indigenous yeasts in temperature controlled (20°C or 68F) tanks. After, the wine matures on its lees for 5 months. This semi-sweet wine displays a floral nose of rose petals and violet, with a rich and spicy palate. 225 cases made. 14% alcohol.
